We had SUCH a busy week collecting for our CharMont Gives Back charity for the month of November: Loaves and Fishes.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, collecting can goods or other non-perishable items for families that may not have a meal every night helps teach our children that we have so much to be thankful for.
This year we assigned a type of can good or non-perishable item for each day of the week:
Monday- Baby Food
Tuesday- Veggie/ Fruit
Friday- Free Choice
Each morning the children were so excited to deposit their gifts into the Loaves and Fishes boxes that were decorated by our Primary Extended Day. These were beautiful moments of compassion and teaching children it is our responsibility as a community to give when we can and to spread the peace that we teach every day at school. Maria Montessori said, “If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children, for the children are the makers of men.”
We are very proud to announce that we collected 544.41 lbs. of food! This is going to go a long way towards helping feed our community of Charlotte.
